Faith

My Faith

Hello! This is my first post on this blog and I thought that the perfect thing to talk about is my faith.

If you’ve read my about me, you may have realized that I don’t consider my faith to be “normal,” in fact, if you showed this post to any fundamentalist reformed Christian, they would probably say some really mean things about me.

The first thing that I want to define is what I consider to be “normal” in terms of faith. To me, a normal spiritual life is following one path. For example, most Christians just follow the path of Christianity.

Here’s why I would consider my faith to be abnormal.

Firstly, I don’t exactly believe in the Holy Trinity. I believe that Jesus is the Father and the Holy Spirit is Jesus guiding us. I believe Jesus as God sacrificed Himself to save humankind from eternal damnation. Now, there’s no real biblical support for these beliefs, however I have been convicted of these beliefs.

Secondly, I consider myself to be a druid and aspects of druidry directly contradict some of the core beliefs of fundamental Christianity. Some of these contradictions is loving creation and in a sense worshipping it, which contradicts how the bible says not to put other gods before Him, as well as loving yourself, your life, your sexuality, and your body, where the bible says to deny yourself.

Another reason is because I believe in Celtic and Norse deities. In a way, Celtic and Norse mythology is analogous to Greek and Roman mythology. This is also in direct contradiction to the second commandment. The main reason why I decided to embrace these deities is because in Christianity, there is no feminine and in every day life, there’s a feminine to all things masculine. In other paths, there’s a feminine deity to complement the masculine and I find that balance to be something important in my life.

I also don’t believe there is only one way to get to whatever favorable afterlife you believe in. I believe that everyone gets their afterlife, whether that’s heaven, valhalla, hell, or no afterlife at all. I see no point in pushing my beliefs onto others for this very reason.

If you don’t agree with my beliefs, that’s fine, however I don’t want to hear about how I’m a bad person if I don’t believe in x, y, or z. I want to make this a safe space for me to express myself and for other people who are maybe going through similar spiritual journeys.
